Shona McGarty was born on the 14th October 1991, she is an English actress and singer best known for playing Whitney Dean in EastEnders.
Before joining EastEnders, Shona McGarty had been involved in amateur musical theatre for six years, including a role in Wizard of Oz. Shona performed the song “A Change is Gonna Come” on Children in Need 2012. Shona has regularly performed live for charity with some great names including Daniel O’Donnel, Gregory Porter and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2018, she joined 26 other celebrities and performed an original Christmas song called Rock With Rudolph, a song written and produced by Grahame and Jack Corbyn. The song was recorded in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital and was released digitally on independent record label Saga Entertainment on 30 November 2018. The music video debuted exclusively with The Sun on 29 November 2018 and had its first TV showing on Good Morning Britain on 30 November 2018.
In August 2021 Shona took to the stage on Eastenders as her character Whitney to perform an exceptional version of Leona Lewis’ song Homeless. In October 2021 Saga Entertainment reunites Shona with The Celebs to perform a heart warming rendition of The Beatles classic Let It Be, in support of Mind, the mental health charity.
